Sketches

My original sketch for this painting leaned very alien. My scribbly notes, are deciding the colours.

Process

The sketch on the canvas took a couple of tries, at some point its just easier to start putting paint on canvas.

For the skin tone I went for a purple undertone to highlight the strangeness

The skin was mostly done around the 6 hour mark for this painting

The pale green background contrasts nicely between the purple undertone of the skin and the red lips and fabric. This photo is before final touches

The final touch-ups for this painting were softening the shadows and highlights of the face, as well as the eyelid creases and adding a brow bone shadow. Overall I am very pleased with this piece.
